Fans of role playing games (RPGs) have been raving about Bethesda's hit title Fallout 3. For those that are unfamiliar with the titles should know that the series is set in a post-apocalyptic world heavily influenced by the American post-WWII culture of the 1950's. In the game's universe, during World War II, Washington D.C. was attacked with a nuclear weapon which devastated our nation's capitol.
In 2008, Bethesda Softworks released the much anticipated follow up to Fallout 1 and 2. Fallout 3 makes use of the latest in PC and console gaming technology to provide an intense and deeply in-depth gaming experience. As if this were not cause enough for celebration amongst long time fans of the series, Bethesda has released the first expansion content for Fallout 3 called “The Pitt” which depicts the 'Burgh in ruins. In this highly anticipated expansion, Pittsburgh has been seriously affected by radiated water contaminating the three rivers. As a result, dangerous yinzer mutants scavenge the landscape trying to survive, just like you and I.
Millions of gamers across the country, including those in Pittsburgh, were disappointed after downloading the expansion. There have been reports of numerous glitches which are seriously impairing the playability of the game. One such bug causes huge amounts of red exclamation marks to distort the screen during game play. There is speculation that due to past experiences with Bethesda titles, these red exclamation marks indicate missing 3D meshes used in rendering the game's content. Other gamers are reporting freezes and crashes when entering the downtown area of “The Pitt” wherein unfinished content causes all sorts of visual oddities.
Bethesda, here's hoping yinz red-up The Pitt 'n-at so we can all indulge our post-nuclear fallout survival fantasies in between Steelers games.
Keep up the great work!
